Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 September 2026 · first published 25 June 2024
This policy covers Doubled — the website at doubled.app and the iOS app of the same name (together, the “Service”). It is operated by the individual who makes Doubled, referred to here as “we”. The daily puzzle is free on every platform.
What is collected
When you just play
You can play without an account. In that case what is collected is technical and automatic:
- Your IP address.
- Which pages or screens you open, when, and how long you stay.
- Your device type, operating system, and browser.
The Service does not collect precise location.
When you sign in
An account is what carries streaks and statistics between devices. Signing in stores:
- Your email address and an account identifier.
- Your display name, which is shown to other members of any group you join.
- Your play history: which puzzles you attempted, how many guesses you took, and the streaks and statistics derived from them.
- Which groups you belong to.
- A record that a premium purchase was verified, and the transaction identifier the store issued for it. Card and payment details are handled by Apple and never reach us.
- A push notification token, if you turn notifications on.
How it is used
- To run the game: publishing the daily puzzle, recording your result, and keeping your streak correct.
- To show group members each other’s results for the same puzzle.
- To confirm a premium purchase and unlock what was bought.
- To send notifications you asked for, and occasional required notices about the Service.
- To find and fix faults, and to understand aggregate usage — how many people solved a given puzzle, and in how many guesses.
Your data is not sold.
Advertising and cookies
The Service is funded partly by advertising, and this section describes how that works.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info, or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
- Vendors that have not been given consent, or where consent has been withdrawn, serve non-personalised ads instead. Non-personalised ads still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention.
- More detail on how Google handles data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com.
Beyond advertising, cookies and equivalent browser storage are used to keep you signed in and to remember your progress on the current puzzle. Blocking them will sign you out and lose local progress.
Who else sees it
The Service is built on third-party providers, each with its own privacy policy:
- Firebase — sign-in, database, file storage, notifications, and analytics.
- Google AdSense, for advertising on the website.
- Apple, for purchases made on iOS.
Other members of a group you join can see your display name, your result on a shared puzzle, and your aggregate statistics. They cannot see your email address.
Keeping it, and getting rid of it
Account data is kept for as long as the account exists, and for a reasonable period afterwards. To have your account and its play history deleted, send a request through Contact & Feedback while signed in to the account concerned. Deletion is permanent and takes your streaks with it.
You can also ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or object to a particular use. If you have not signed in, uninstalling the app or clearing your browser storage stops collection at your end.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information or market to them. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact us and it will be deleted.
Security
We protect the confidentiality of your information through physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the Service after a change means accepting the updated policy.

Send questions about this policy or your data through Contact & Feedback. See also the contact page.
